"It's now in its second edition and it's a great book. Here's why. The authors have combined Eastern European and North American resistance training practices to present a truly global perspective on current theories on how athletes should train. From the Back Cover

This second edition of Science and Practice of Strength Training comes with many additions and changes. A new coauthor, Dr. William Kraemer, joins Dr. Vladimir Zatsiorsky in expanding on the principles and concepts needed for training athletes. Together, the authors have trained more than 1,000 elite athletes, including Olympic, world, continental, and national champions and record holders. The concepts they divulge are influenced by both Eastern European and North American perspectives. The authors integrate those concepts in solid principles, practical insights, coaching experiences, and directions based on scientific findings. This edition is much more practical than its predecessor; to this end, the book provides the practitioner the understanding to craft strength training programs based on individualsÂ’ needs. Science and Practice of Strength Training, Second Edition, shows that there is no one program that works for any one athlete at all times or for all conditions. This book addresses the complexity of strength training programs while providing straightforward approaches to take under specific circumstances. Those straightforward approaches are applied to new physiological concepts and training practices, which provide readers with the most current information in the science and practice of strength training. These practices are also applied to the three new chapters, which will help readers design safe and effective strength training programs for women, young athletes, and seniors. In addition, the authors provide examples of strength training programs to demonstrate the principles and concepts they explain in the book. This expanded and updated coverage of strength training concepts will ground readers in the understanding they need in order to develop appropriate strength training programs for each person that they work with.

Product is a textbook on the bodies adaptation to training. As such is a dense read and will take multiple read throughs to understand like many texts. This book covers everything between the relationship of maximal and relative strength, the role of tendons and biomechanics in movemant. And differentiated the styles of micro and mesocycle trainning used. I consider this the most important book in my kinseology library and a go to book whenever I am devising a new training program.**An important note is this book will not teach you training programs, nor specific exercises, the best way to use it, is to check your micro and meso cycles for optimal recovery time, and the line up you use for your exercises to best meet your goals and avoid under/over training.

This one of the essential texts for those interested in Strength and Conditioning, and more specifically the science behind programming and training for progress. There is enough information online on just what this book covers so I won't summarize it here. But I would highly recommend it. It is not quite as dense and academic as "Supertraining" but does involve much more real science than most other texts. The references pull from a wide body of research from a variety of sources.

How often do you say - WOW. When reading a textbook?? Well, if you are really into strength training, this literature will bring you a new and fuller understanding of just what it is and how it is done. This should be on the book shelf of all lifters and body builders, along side of Bill Pearl's books. This is not going to give you specific exercises for like building your bicepts, Bill Pearl's books do that in spades. No, this book built on the latest science and on the author's years of training olymipic/international champions is a rare mix of the two. I had expected that there would be kinestics pics galore showing all of the exercises, etc. But to my pleasant surprise it was more on the sciences; biological, neurological; physical chemistry, mental conditioning and in the "real world" what works and does not!! It blew away some of my closely held falicies and replaced them with research and actual training methods that are proven to work. I have termed it a textbook which might offend the authors, but it seemed appropriate as it reads in many sections like a text book. Replete, with formulas, math, graphs; enough to make any of us reach for the Excedrine. I found that once well confused, I would just skip ahead and there I was pleased to find softer examples and illustrations that reflected back onto and made more understandable the "textbook" stuff. The knowledge and training methodology(s) gave me a Quantum leap forward into understanding my rate(s) of progress and how to keep on pressing toward the mark with out; burn out, plataus, injuries, etc. I have totally revamped my strength conditioning program to mirror and include the book's knowledge. I am gaining more, with less time spent at the gym - that alone is worth the cost of this book. The only negative is why this book was not around when I was peaking ! I can not turn the clock back, and I am now only 5 months into a return to the gym, and at 65 in better strength now than my body building program of 5 days a week at 40!

The very best "strength training" book. Not your fluffy pumped up muscle mag.

Details vital for the serious coach

William Kraemer is one of the foremost researchers on strength and conditioning in the US and Zatsiorsky is a sport scientist molded in the former Soviet system, the result is a book that is heavy on the science of how the body adapts to strength training without any of the faddish nonsense by books written for consumers. If you want to know how muscles adapt to strength and power training and how to develop proper strength-training programs based on years of science, then buy this book now. If you have been introduced to strength training via crossfit then definitely buy this book to find out how to apply the actual science behind strength training; many of Glassman's original principles are based on the Soviet system (let's face it, anybody serious about strength training can trace their roots back to eastern european and soviet-era research) and this book does an excellent job of explaining how adaptations occur. This book is one of my 'go-to' references when writing articles or developing talks on strength training. it doesn't provide sample programs, but instead does provide the information on how to develop your own programs. It's not written for the typical fitness consumer, so be prepared for a science-laden text. For any serious student of performance training this book is another 'must-have' for the library.

This is a must addition to the library of all strength trainers and traineês. It's an excellent mixture of solid science and practical applications. I can highly recommend this.

Excellent book.

If you haven't heard Jodis miraculous story you are missing out. I read it straight through in about 4 hours. Such an emotional story of overcoming a supposedly inoperable brain tumor, followed by a spinal fluid leak and partial facial paralysis. Jodi bares her soul and doesn't hold back any of the details that show both sides of our medical system - both the inhuman mechanics as well as the miraculous healers. After reading her journey I feel more prepared about how to respond when a family member is going through a similar trial - what questions to ask, who to ignore, what to speak up about. Well worth the read for a spiritual feast and to make you appreciate every little blessing you unknowingly enjoy.

According to the comedian Brian Regan, if you’re at a party and you try to talk about having two wisdom teeth pulled, the people who’ve had four wisdom teeth pulled will loudly interrupt to tell their story, and your story will always take a back seat. With her brain tumor, three brain surgeries, her brush with death, and her lasting side effects, Jodi Brown’s story trumps most of the sickness and recovery stories I’ve heard. I’m sure there must be people out there who have suffered as much or more, but most of them are no longer alive. Jodi has touched the void and has come back from the edge to tell us a riveting tale of illness, endurance, love, and regeneration. Her story should give hope to anyone who suffers. Personally, I’m glad she’s still here, and I hope she’s able to stay around for a long time for her family, friends, and readers. As long as she and her book are here, the sun still shines for all of us.

Jodi's forthright telling of her darkest days and nights overcoming brain tumor surgeries is gut wrenching to say the least. This is a most amazing and comprehensive narrative of a grueling battle with a life threatening brain tumor and her victory over it. You will be amazed at the dedicated medical professionals who took on Jodi's case when all others declared her case hopeless. You will also be stunned by the support Jodi received from not just her husband, parents, family and friends but communities of peoples who tirelessly came alongside Jodi for the weeks and months it took to fight her health battles helping meet her and her family's needs. This is a story everyone can benefit from reading. It will make you appreciate the health you have, no matter your limitations, perfections and or imperfections.

A sobering story that reminds us how quickly our circumstances can change and how meaningful a small act of kindness and show of support can be. We all know that we tend to overlook things we see every day and take for granted what we always have... but it doesn't really sink in until we experience great loss. The greatest fear for most of us is aging and losing control of our bodies. Health and wellness are gifts that could easily fade with time or change in an instant. This is very well-written book filled with small bites of wisdom that you don't fully notice until you get to the end and you find yourself in tears. Thank you, Jodi, for having the courage to share your story. My father currently has Glioblastoma (stage 4 brain cancer); his is inoperable and radiation / chemo have done the most they can do, so we know there's an unknown, but limited amount of time... still, I appreciate that I've been fully present in my loving relationship with him for some years now and we still meet weekly for our video chats and joke with each other like we always do. Your story resonated for me... and was a reminder that the small things we could do or say or share with others, that we may not think much of, may actually mean the world to them and make all the difference. Much love to you. I visited your websites as well and was touched by how beautiful you are. I'm happy to see you've used your experiences to start a new, meaningful path of helping others through motivational speaking.

I am autistic and had virtually no friends in high school; fellow student Jodi Orgill went out of her way to make me feel acceptable and likable. I have since learned to mimic a neurotypical personality, but I think of Jodi frequently when I spot struggling adults and youth for whom a few true words of recognition and admiration may be pivotal. Even at 17, and with that magazine-pretty face, she was already the real deal. Before I read this book I was terrified of talking to people undergoing unimaginable things; I've lost my fear of that and have reaped eternities of rewards for it. Thanks for both things, Jodi. Kara

As always when reviewing a memoir, I fall back on a basic premise: if it is truthful, real, and personal, it deserves maximum credit. Obviously in the case of "The Sun Still Shines", Jodi Orgill Brown's incredibly difficult experience of her struggle to survive brain surgery, this is also a very painful narrative. One can only imagine, if one has not gone through a similar trauma, the intensity of the pain and anguish Jodi and her family suffered. The author makes appropriate references to the spiritual aspects of her situation, without bludgeoning the reader with religious references, and it is very clear that the "miracles" she experiences are the result of the combination of the loving support of her family and friends; the efforts of her doctors; the prayers of many, even total strangers; and her own willingness to continue to endure for the sake of her loved ones. This book is very personal, but has a strong universal appeal; a very rewarding read.

Absolutely loved this book. I had a large acoustic neuroma removed in 1985 when my girls were six and three years of age. By the Grace of God, I've never had headaches, but have suffered most everything else the author did with her tumor. Your body just adjusts and you somehow learn to live with the after affects but it's not always easy. "The Sun Still Shines" was an uplifting book and I feel fortunate at how far I've come. I hope the author is doing well also!

The Last Ottoman Generation and the Making of the Modern Middle East

Review

'A brilliant new history that captures the Ottoman foundations of the modern Middle East in the decades between the First and Second World Wars. The hopes and disappointments of the interwar years shaped the Arab world down to the present day. Engagingly written, Michael Provence brings this era to life for readers today.' Eugene Rogan, University of Oxford'This is a wonderfully original book, a merciless reconstruction of the British and French mandates in the Middle East as local contemporaries would have experienced them.' Peter Sluglett, National University of Singapore'This remarkable work examines how the peoples of the Middle East perceived their present and future before the cataclysm of World War I, famine and death, Ottoman collapse and foreign occupation completely reshaped their region. Instead of looking at the main features that we think of when we look back on the twentieth century in the Middle East, The Last Ottoman Generation and the Making of the Modern Middle East rather starts with the hopes and expectations of an elite in what became the separate Arab states and Turkey that in many respects shared a common background, expectations and outlook. This is an original and illuminating interpretation of events in a region that is still deeply affected by the transformations that Michael Provence illustrates so perceptively.' Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies, Columbia University'Michael Provence's book is a revelation. Casting aside the old pieties of state nationalism, Provence sets the story of the Arab Middle East in the first half of the twentieth century squarely in the context of the late-Ottoman scene, bringing to life the world of soldiers, politicians and intellectuals struggling to cope with the loss of the Ottoman system, which they believed was a fairer dispensation than the colonial nation states imposed on the Middle East in the wake of World War I. Deeply researched and written in clear, compelling prose, this book is essential reading for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of the history of the modern Middle East.' Laila Parsons, McGill University, Canada'[This book] is a definitive study of this crucial period in Middle Eastern history, tracing the period through popular political movements and the experience of colonial rule. In doing so, Provence emphasizes the continuity between the late Ottoman and Colonial era, explaining how national identities emerged, and how the seeds were sown for many of the conflicts which have defined the Middle East in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. An invaluable read for students of Middle Eastern history and politics ...' James A Cox, Library Bookwatchs'The insightful study taps into most of the scholarship exploring this crucial period and primary archival sources found in France, Turkey, and Britain. Provence makes the case for thinking of the interaction between indigenous and foreign forces as crucial to understanding the current state of affairs in the region. In this respect, students of the Middle East will gain from consulting a book that is the best of its genre. As such, it is critical reading for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students. Essential.' I. Blumi, Choice'... a stimulating semi-revisionist history focusing on continuities rather than ruptures ... The book excavates remarkable details from the years of flux after the collapse of the Ottoman state.' The Hurriyet Daily News

In April of 1925, Lord Arthur James Balfour, former British foreign minister and author of the 1917 “Balfour Declaration,” which stated the British government’s support for the creation of a “national home for the Jewish people” in what was then Ottoman Palestine, embarked on a tour of the post-World War I mandatory states imposed on the Middle East by the victorious British and French powers. Balfour’s journey began in Jerusalem. While there, he gave the inaugural address for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received honors from numerous Zionist dignitaries. The visit did not escape the attention of the Arabic press from across the eastern Mediterranean. By the time Balfour reached Damascus, a large crowd of demonstrators was waiting for him. The following day, despite the security measures taken by French mandate officials, demonstrators marched through Suq al-Hamidiyya and besieged Balfour in the Victoria Hotel. Under the cover of French riot police and suppressing fire, Balfour was rushed out of the city by a heavily armed convoy, finally reaching Beirut. The events of the previous two days had sent a clear message. Upon his arrival in Beirut, Balfour was immediately ferried to a British ship anchored in the harbor. There he received guests and conducted all official business until he left the region two days later, never again setting foot on land (157-158). Although the defeated Ottoman armies had been forced to retreat from the region nearly seven years earlier, the post-Ottoman settlement was and would continue to be actively contested by many of the former Ottoman subjects it dispossessed and subsequently subjected to British and French imperial power. In The Last Ottoman Generation and the Making of the Modern Middle East, Michael Provence makes a valuable contribution to the emergent trend breaking with much of the earlier scholarship on the region that was concerned with national histories and the rise of particular nationalisms. In so doing, the work “tries to imagine the viewpoint of many former Ottoman citizens who argued that the divisions of and governing arrangements of the post-Ottoman, colonial period were inferior, less free, and less representative than what had come before” (4). The central argument of the book consists of three points: the legacy of Ottoman modernization is second only to the colonial legacy in shaping the history of the Middle East; the colonial legacy is a common experience that transcended national borders; and the tendency to view the region through the particular Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, and Turkish national histories has obscured the commonalities that were clear until the middle of the twentieth century (6). In short, armed and political resistance, often of a trans-national character, on the part of former Ottoman subjects posed an existential threat to the mandate system and worldview of European colonialism throughout much of the two decades following the fall of the empire. The core of the last Ottoman generation consisted of the military officers born in the 1880s and 1890s (45). The common thread between them was their shared experience of Ottoman modernity, passing through the empire’s military academies. In the cases of many of the men, the bonds forged by these institutions would outlive the empire itself. Contrary to later Arab nationalist portrayals, a majority of surviving military academy graduates from the predominantly Arab regions of the empire would later serve the Turkish Republic. With respect to the famed Arab Revolt and forces of Faysal ibn Husayn, rather than relying on nationalist defectors, many of the Arab officers who joined Faysal only did so after the final defeat of Ottoman forces in Syria by the Entente (103-104). Dissatisfaction with the post-war settlement manifested itself in non-military forms as well. At first ignorant of the role of petitions in the Ottoman Empire due in no small part to pervasive views of “oriental despotism,” colonial and mandate authorities ignored then stifled the appeals for justice on the part of countless individual petitioners (175). In the end, rather than abandoning the Ottoman state, its most devoted subjects learned the painful truth that the state had in fact abandoned them. Mustafa Kemal’s abolition of the caliphate, agreements with the French, and embrace of ethnic nationalism ultimately came at the expense of those beyond the borders of the nascent Turkish Republic (150-151, 265). The Last Ottoman Generation is the latest addition to an important wave of scholarship over the last decade, culminating with the centennial of WWI. This includes such titles as Eugene Rogan’s The Fall of the Ottomans, Leila Fawaz’s A Land of Aching Hearts, Sean McMeekin’s The Ottoman Endgame, Ryan Gingeras’ Fall of the Sultanate, and Mustafa Aksakal’s The Ottoman Road to War in 1914. While the WWI centennial was accompanied by a broader popular and scholarly interest in the subject, these works in particular have gone a long way toward integrating Ottoman decision-making, experiences, perspectives, and wartime theaters into the larger story of the conflict, thus highlighting the centrality of the empire to the course of events. Indeed, in the case of the Ottoman Empire, the Entente powers fell for what had been over a century of their own propaganda, expecting an easy victory over the “sick man of Europe,” and suffering numerous humiliating defeats as a result (60). The underestimation of Ottoman resilience can perhaps serve as a cautionary tale for more recent history, where over the past quarter-century and spanning the post-Ottoman space from the Balkans to the heart of the Middle East, Western policymakers have routinely underestimated the resilience of various regimes, often to their own peril, along with those on the ground. The extensive archival research on which the book is based spans regional record collections in Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey; the archives of European powers in Britain, France, and Germany; and the files of the League of Nations Mandates Commission, one of the most valuable sources preserving the numerous petitions of former Ottoman subjects. Additional sources include period Arabic, French, and English language newspapers, memoirs, and interviews conducted by the author with descendants of members from the final generation of Ottoman military and political figures, such as the family of Yasin al-Hashimi. The product of the research based on these and other sources is written in engaging and highly readable academic prose. The timeline of events at the start and sub-headings within each chapter make the book suitable for both graduate students and upper-level undergraduates. The contribution made to the study of late-Ottoman history and the mandate period will make The Last Ottoman Generation of interest to specialist and non-specialist readers alike.

Original, superbly researched & enjoyable to read, this book links facts together clearly and in a way that brings them to life. It is essential for understanding the making of the modern Middle East in all its complexities. The author shows that while the culture, power & structure of the Ottoman Empire receded after the First World War it’s influence on regional history & politics continues to the present day. We are reminded that the Ottoman Empire didn’t simply vanish after 1918. On the contrary, Provence takes us through the complex history of the modern Middle East, discussing such topics as Great Power colonialism, Arab nationalism, Islam, resistance to & repression by the British and French mandate governments making this a nuanced, well integrated & thought provoking work. Reading it today fills in many of the gaps in our understanding of such events as the war in Syria. I recommend it highly for students, professors, and people simply trying to understand the modern Levant. Few history books are as lively and engaging to read - if one is genuinely interested in the topic. A second excellent book by Michael Province.

This is the best book I have read to date on the dynamics that marked the end of the Ottoman Empire and the construction of the modern Middle East. Professor Provence has added significant information to existing chronicles (Fromkin, for example). He documents the role that the imperial powers played in shaping the "independent" countries of the former Ottoman provinces, showing that some of the current challenges that Syria and Iraq face in particular date back to this period. It is essential reading for anyone interested in both the period and the region.

An excellent review for those who are looking for history of the Middle East!

I like the book, might be more detailed than needed.

To get the negatives out of the way: it's unfortunate that, having invested in appealing graphic design - the book looks just so much nicer than the spartan O'Reilly titles - Addison Wesley have not provided the author with similarly solid editorial support, resulting in a book that definitely feels rushed. There are typos, cosmetic blemishes (one regular annoyance is a table that's too wide for a page - one could fit it using a smaller font, but instead the table ends up split across twice as many rows), a couple of statistical blunders (on pp. 172 and 263), things that could have been left out, things that should have been included (oddly, the chapter on joins never mentions outer joins, and, in fact, does not explain what a join is) - and, finally, time and again, things that should have been explained better. I do not feel that "R for Everyone" is the best available introduction to R, and continue to endorse Robert Kabacoff's high-quality "R in Action" in that capacity.Where "R for Everyone" differs from "R in Action" - and, coming to the positives, where it wins out - is in intermediate-R territory. One important example is coverage of "ggplot2". Whereas "R in Action" discusses the "old school" R graphics, "R for Everyone" goes with "ggplot2", becoming the second popular book (after Winston Chang's "R Graphics Cookbook") to discuss the package - and although its explanation of "ggplot2" syntax is sketchy, the samples found throughout the book do build into a useful "ggplot2" gallery that actually brought me over the fence. "plyr" package, an important data-manipulation aid, is another example, and another "R in Action" no-show. So is "data.table". So is "knitr", used to produce reports. So is "rcpp", used to interface R and C++. So is R package-building. (You will notice that the topics become more advanced. These are introductions rather than substantial explorations, but awareness is a valuable thing). In the book's second half, when discussion moves from R to statistics-with-R, the author continues to manage to find original material; statistical explanations may be brief - this is not a textbook - but examples, and pointers to useful R utilities, are much appreciated.I own just one R book - literally, "The R Book", by Crawley - but "R for Everyone" will be joining it; this has got to be a compliment. Kudos to Jared Lander for writing an original, substantial, useful book.UPD. It's June 2015, and second edition of Robert Kabacoff's "R in Action" is finally out - but the changes are incremental, and my endorsement of "R for Everyone" stands.

In spite of the good reviews, the reality is very different. This is a bad R book with many shortcomings that range from bad explanations of the basics (functions, data types) to no explanation at all when showing the use of R in data analysis. The book has a nice layout in color, but this is misleading. Long R output without proper formatting for a textbook is always displayed because the author wrote the book directly in the code as he himself states and printed it out as it is. And it feels like. Most of the text looks just like comments in a program code. The treatment of functions is very poor (they are also very rarely used in the book) and the explanation of the different R data types lacks depth and is misguided. Silly examples are used to show the basics as in printing the author's name. The later chapters get even worse, literally damaging all the more interesting parts, where the book leaves the very basics and moves on to data handling and then to advanced data analytics in R.The part of the book that deals with data analytics is sincerely a bit of a tragedy. Rushed text with no clear or sometimes whatsoever explanations of what is actually being done, with just little text and lots of code output and charts taking most of the space. Ironically the book that is "for everyone" makes hard for "everyone" to understand anything that uses statistics, about 60% of the book!.It is harder even for those trained on statistics or related "hard" sciences. For example, In chapter 22, right in the beginning the author uses a value for the predicted number of clusters in the data under analysis. This value is taken out of the blue and only later it is shown how this value can be found using two methods. The first method doesn’t bring any useful value (and you wonder why it is shown). The second method does bring a good value but it is not explained in the text how this method's results should be interpreted to determine this value. Apart from two rushed sentences that speak of a standard deviation being used, whatever this standard deviation is coming from as the author says nothing about the algorithm clusGap that he used for such. I did some research and found out that the author's LiveLesson video course, that follows the book almost page by page, does mention, albeit quickly, how to interpret the second method’s result above. But not in his book… Unfortunately this video course also suffers from the same problems that the book does, as it is mostly a live reading of the book with the author typing the code.In fact, almost anything related to data analytics is very poorly explained, if at all. Another example, out of many, is the section 20.3 on Generalized Adaptive Models. After preprocessing the raw data used for the analysis, a few charts are displayed (without much explanation of the code used for which) and then the data analysis code output is shown without any explanation. Two features of the data, CreditAmount and Age, are displayed in charts where they are smoothed, but there is no explanation about what for. And the analysis stops right there without any further explanation. What could be said in a few sentences is left out. Most of the data analytics examples also show very poor performance, leading the user to think why data analysis is used if it performs so badly and, if it performs well, why the author didn’t select any better example. There are also many pedagogical errors, minor and major ones. I will just mention a few taken from chapter 12 as an example:1) Many variables are created with the function assign in a loop but actually only two of them are used. What for? On top of it, the same loop is coded again later with just a different variable name.2) The function merge is used with the same column names, although the author states that “the ability to specify different column names (..) is the most useful feature of merge” before doing so with the function join from the library plyr. Then you wonder what difference is being shown.3) It gets worse. In a rather convoluted way to show how to merge different data frames, the author introduces two new features of R, eval and parse, just by passing and without any specific examples or further explanation. In this same convoluted example the author also uses the R function Reduce in the most complicated way with the dots, without first showing simple examples and what it is for. Only then later down in the text he goes on to explain what Reduce does but fails to mention that it can only be applied to binary functions. The text states that “Reduce can be a difficult function to grasp”. If it is, it would deserve a better treatment, not as a side note, explained in an example that is related to something else (how to merge data frames). It should also have a full explanation of how it can be used.R is a beautiful language that can be well explained. It is not hard to show its power in data analysis with short but clear explanations. It’s regrettable that this book misses its stated goals so badly, when it could have done otherwise brilliantly, as its author seems capable to do a much better job. So I can't recommend this book. There is actually a shortage of good R books in the market, but "R in Action" (second edition is coming), "The Art of R Programming" and "The R Book" are much superior choices.

I was quite disappointed with this book. I'm not entirely new to R, but I've never gone through any sort of well-rounded text so I thought this would be the best option. wanted a combo of graphics and getting to know commonly used packages. This does offer that BUTmany of the data sets the author references are not available where he references them. And others have very long and silly column names, which makes writing out code needlessly complicated. Worse still is when the column names don't match the book - this book is brand new so the columns should match. When they don't match, it makes a lot of unnecessary busy work matching up the author's terms with the actual data set. D for effort. These mistakes would have been easy to catch and clean up.

Very basic. this is good for those people who are absolutely new to R. but if you are someone who has already done some reading up on R then this is really too basic.I had already done the MOOC for R at courseera and was looking for something which will take me further from that... but this is not the book for that.
