Author/attorney tells the stories of innocent and not so innocent prisoners. Some of the prisoners are about to be put to death, how hard everyone involved worked on their own dime. He had good ideas about prisons, lawyers, court system and how much politics got in the way. Instead of reading and listening these suggestions, things got worse. Especially with for profit prisons, more drugs and no good gun control laws.
"Court of Last Resort" is the court of people. There is no court above peoples court. There is no law above peoples law. This concept is very nicely depicted in "Court of Last Resort". Hats off to Erle Stanley Gardner for coming up with "Court of Last Resort" and all other dedicated people who worked/helped Court of Last Resort achieve what it intended to.This book stands out among other crime mystery novels because, it is full of real life stories. You will get a chance to read real life cases. What happens in real life. It has stories of the those unfortunate people who were wrongly convicted, who fell pray to circumstances, who were sometimes deliberately framed up. On one end it is sad to see that they are acquitted or pardoned or left on parole after spending considerable part of their life in prison for a crime they never did commit. On the other end you will be happy to see that that Court of Last Resort helped them in getting acquitted and released at least to lead the rest of their lives in happiness.
This book by Erle Stanley Gardner demonstrates how the criminal justice system can and does run awry. Sadly, it is even worse now with the amount of perjury law enforcement and prosecution "expert" witnesses commit.

This is a very informative book. I had to get this copy, since mine had molded. It is very interesting, about those accused of crime, sometimes unjustly. Most time justly. Yet there are cases that, after the fact, this "Court of Last Resort" took it upon themselves to investigate the facts, with their own money, and all of the time they could spare. These are investigators, actual judges, and many [high-priced] attorneys, that wanted only to get to the truth. If guilty, so be it; yet if innocent, to prove it.Which usually took much time going over court records, finding witnesses, running down [new] clues, etc.This is a factual book.The book itself was as the seller described. Shipping was in good time.

Reading this book is a tonic for anyone who thinks we can solve the crime problem by locking people up and throwing away the key. It makes you wish there were a Court of Last Resort today.
Not as I expected, did not keep my interest in fact I didn't finish reading it.
